The Menopause is a difficult time for women. It brings on a host of symptoms, most of them unwelcome, and can last over a year as the reproductive system gradually comes to an end.

With that a change on hormones and the balance of hormones can lead to anxiety, sleeplessness, and sweating at unexpected times, so an early diagnosis is extremely helpful.

 

The FirstSign LFT test measures a specific hormone known as FSH, which stands for ‘Follicle Stimulating Hormone’, and this is the substance that prompts the release of an egg, or follicle from the female ovary to the uterus.

This hormone begins to decline at the onset of the menopause and so it is the lack of this hormone that signals the onset of menopause.

Before LFT kits, this diagnostic was always via a GP taking a blood sample, but the lft test is so sensitive that the hormone can be detected in urine, so it is now easier and quicker to perform the test yourself, and considerably less expensive.

Its is prudent to repeat this test a few times, as you are measuring the absence or decline of a hormone substance and so it is best to confirm the first result with a second a week later.
