Introduction:
LFT’s are a modern and quick way of assisting diagnosis in healthcare settings, and can be performed by the patient themselves.
They are quick, easy to use and read, and very reliable, with over 90% accuracy.
What exactly happens?
LFT kits use a sample from the patient, can be a saliva swab, urine, blood sample, etc to detect the presence or absence of a marker illness or disease, eg Covid test, detect the presence of an virus particle.
How to use them:
Simply follow the instruction sheet that come with each test kit.
Each will involve gathering a sample, such as a saliva swab, adding to to a buffer solution, which comes in the pack, and then applying that solution to a cartridge, which allows the fluid to pass along a test bed.
This bed will then detect the required marker or the absence of it, with a solid line across the cartridge.
The presence of a solid line, means you test positive, and the absence means you test negative.
Results are normally within 20 minutes of the test, and the whole kit can be disposed of safely.
Each test kit is for single use only.
